Our Workshop

Our workshop facilities are located in southern China, and consist of three vast spaces that are used as warehouses to store our stock. Our additional facility situated in that same area, is utilized as a workshop, in where we work on each and every piece until reaching to a satisfying stage. Having said that, it is important to state that Pacific Orient Traders is restoring every single piece in its stock, which later is being shipped to the United States. We are employing a wonderful crew of workers of more than 15 people who are helping to capture the same charm of the past the furniture had, prior to us finding it. Some of the professionals working with us are excellent wood workers while others are gifted artists sitting patiently and working on each carved panel, intricate screen and ornate elements found on armoires, sideboards, altar tables and chairs. What is so important to us is to deliver the essence of a piece the best we can, so it does not lose its elegance and unique timeless presence. In that, we do travel extensively to find our pieces all throughout the huge plains of China, and in particular in the Northern provinces. We arrive to small villages, dig throughout crowded open markets and are definitely after authenticity more than anything else.

As the process of selecting and buying our furniture demands specific knowledge and high attention, its rewards are certainly shown within our impressive selection of furniture. Screens, tables, canopy beds, altar tables, ornate wood carvings, trunks, armoires and different types of chests, are all being treated and oiled before the final touch of various wood-stain shades and/or different color lacquer. We ensure quality and sturdiness to our product so there is absolutely no deterioration even though the wood is aged.

That production by all means does depict the exact process in which our product is undergoing, while giving an idea to the observer of what exactly Pacific Orient Traders is all about. With one big facility in China, two stores in both Hawaii and Washington, and a wonderful group of employees, we succeed to stay loyal and true to the amazing past China’s interiors once had known.
